Community
Hospital - completed in 1993, the Powell River Community Hospital
offers comprehensive health services supported by sophisticated
diagnostic and treatment services and 24-hour emergency department.
Evergreen
Residence - Beautifully
landscaped, the Evergreen Residence provides extended care level
services for up to 75 residents. Physically linked to the Community
Hospital, the facility can draw upon any of the resources of the Health
Centre. The Evergreen Residence offers gently, individualized care and
welcomes families and friends 24 hours a day.

Home
Based Services - Working in partnership, the Continuing Care and
Home Support programs provide personal, hands-on assistance for
individuals living in their own homes. Home support staff provide
services such as personal care, meal preparation in special cases and
other services to enable individuals to remain in their homes while
facing health issues. Home care nursing and rehabilitation services such
as physiotherapy are provided by clinical staff. Case managers assess
individual client needs for home support or facility placement.

Health
Protection - Protecting the public is a core responsibility of Coast
Garibaldi Health and is accomplished under the auspices of a Medical
Health Officer. Environmental Health Officers provide a diversified
program to prevent disease and exposure to environmental health hazards.
The EHO routinely inspects public and commercial establishments.
Community Care Facilities licensing is responsible for ensuring the
protection of vulnerable persons in residential and child care
facilities.
Promotion
& Prevention - Public
Health Nurses work in partnership with individuals, groups and the
community to promote wellness and healthy environments. They provide
services for pre-natal, infant and preschool health, communicable
disease control including immunizations and school and adult
health. PHNs identify health issues and coordinate/mobilize
community-based action for long-term health gains. Other services
include speech and language pathologists and audiologist, nutrition
advice and education, and dental health screening and education.

Mental
Health - Adult Mental Health centres offer direct clinical programs
for adults including community support services, short-term assessment
and treatment and geriatric services. Numerous contracted services
include supported housing, outreach, psychiatric consultation and
therapeutic volunteer/work programs and more. This integrated mental
